About Liliana

Lily is a dedicated individual currently serving as the Resource Development Associate for SLATE-Z. She has been in this role, as an AmeriCorps VISTA since April 2023.  Prior to joining SLATE-Z, Lily’s diverse background included work as a Behavior Interventionist, Youth Counselor, and Program Associate. 

Born and raised in Inglewood, CA, Lily's upbringing in the vibrant community profoundly influenced her desire to pursue higher education and return to uplift her neighborhood. She fulfilled this aspiration by attending the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Philosophy in 2016. While at UCSB, Lily's commitment to community involvement flourished as she actively engaged in various volunteer activities. 

Upon returning to her hometown, Lily co-founded the ING Fellowship, a grassroots organization dedicated to empowering young individuals in the Inglewood community who are passionate about social justice. Through this initiative, she actively supports the creation of positive change within her community. 

Driven by her passion for climate justice and the enhancement of public transportation and green infrastructure, Lily is currently pursuing a career in urban planning. Her goal is to advocate for sustainable practices and contribute to the betterment of communities, including her own. 

In her leisure time, Lily indulges in thrifting, exploring the city, and enjoying leisurely walks in the park. Her commitment to making a positive impact and her enthusiasm for engaging with her surroundings exemplify Lily's dedication to her work and her community.
