About Joelle
Joelle is currently serving as the Operations Associate for SLATE-Z. Prior to joining SLATE-Z's Operations Team, Joelle worked and volunteered in a nonprofit space that focused on youth development.
As an intern at the California Conference for Equality and Justice, Joelle supported the Building Bridges Youth Camp program which educated youth and community members on racial and social justice. During her Americorps VISTA service at Scholars Transitioning and Realizing Success (STARS), Joelle worked on Partnerships and Collaborations and learned the necessary skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and connect them to resources.
After collaborating and supporting SIPA Cares in research, co-writing, and revising the Walang Hiya curriculum (a youth program that educates young Filipino Americans on their cultural identity and their mental health), Joelle hopes to bring these skills at SLATE-Z and support the South Los Angeles community.
Joelle has a B.A. in Comparative World Literature and Linguistics from CSUN and holds an M.A. in Diverse Leadership & Community Development.
