About Suleyma
Suleyma Rosales is the Operations Manager, providing operational, administrative, and programmatic support to the SLATE-Z Team. Suleyma also leads SLATE-Z's internal and external grants management, aiding the Grants Sub-committee as it explores regional, workgroup specific, and other targeted grant opportunities for SLATE-Z and its partners.
Suleyma has over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit and local government sector, serving disadvantaged communities and families. Her background in local government includes roles in fundraising and development, events and marketing, volunteer and mentorship coordination, and program management, as well as experience serving as a supervisor of community services and recreation and acting Executive Director of the Gateway Cities Partnership, Inc. Suleyma began her career in the nonprofit sector with “I Have a Dream Foundation-LA,” assisting the Director of Development. There, Suleyma had the opportunity to give back to an organization she had been involved with for years, starting when the Foundation “adopted” her 7th grade class in South LA.
Suleyma received her Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Public Policy, with a concentration of Public Financial Management and a Minor in Spanish, from California State University, Dominguez Hill. She also has a Master of Arts in Leadership and Organizational Studies from Azusa Pacific University. As a child, Suleyma migrated to California from Guatemala, initially settling in the MacArthur Park area. Later, her family moved to the Crenshaw area, where she met made many long-lasting friendships that remain important in her life today.
