About Stephanie

“I have developed mentoring programs to match high school students with fifth and sixth graders and as a foster parent, I focused on identifying resources and opportunities for the children to see their talents and the possibilities they can experience,” said Stephanie Wilson, SLATE-Z's Resource Development Associate.

She was born and raised in South Los Angeles and brings her vast experience and varied professional background to her position as an AmeriCorp VISTA. Stephanie’s background includes foster parenting, public relations, social marketing, community engagement, fund development, special events, and recruitment activities.

Stephanie served as a board member for the American Cancer Society Central Los Angeles Unit, as a parent volunteer with the Council of African American Parents that focused on increased college readiness for parents and children. She consulted with Proyecto Impacto, an after-school support program that collaborated with the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial and Father Greg Boyle of Dolores Mission.

Her passion for travel has expanded her understanding of diasporic relationships and how culture can support and strengthen intergenerational relationships.

Stephanie’s goal is to develop a model focused on the benefit of intergenerational community building in underserved communities, especially communities of color.

Stephanie earned her B.A. in Africana Studies from California State University, Northridge and is currently working toward her master's degree in Pan-African Studies at California State University, Los Angeles.
