In October 2022, SLATE-Z and 17 of its partners were awarded a $35 million Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) implementation grant for mobility, clean energy, and green job development projects in South Los Angeles. Implementation of the grant will be from August 1, 2023, to June 30, 2028.

The role of the South LA Eco-Lab Program Manager is to oversee TransformativeClimate Communities (TCC) grant activities for the successful implementation of 11 different projects in the areas of active transportation, urban greening, solar installations, and low carbon transportation in South Los Angeles.

This position is a five-year grant-funded position ending in June 2028. Over the next five years, the SouthLA Eco-Lab Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating and collaborating with Community Partners, the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office, various community-based organizations, and other governmental entities to achieve the specific TCC project-related goals in the heart of South Los Angeles.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the President & CEO and other SLATE-Z management team to advance the South LA Eco-Lab efforts and ensure that SLATE-Z and its contracted partners achieve their commitments under the South LA Eco-Lab TCC Grant Agreement.

  • Design and coordinate a multi-pronged climate action strategy for South Los Angeles residents and businesses, which includes organizing and staffing community workshops and briefings, conducting research and analysis to support shared goals, and creating materials to communicate program goals to relevant audiences.

The role of the SLATE-Z Transit Work Group Associate is to convene and facilitate Work Group meetings, jointly led by co-chair partners who represent a government agency and/or educational institution, as well as community-based organization. 

The goal of the Transit Work Group is to Improve community infrastructure by increasing the safety, affordability, and use of public transit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a bridge between SLATE-Z staff, co-chairs, and work group members

  • Advising the co-chairs and work group members by providing strategic advice and facilitating communications, action, and cooperation.

  • Managing meeting planning, in accordance with scheduled deadlines.

The role of the SLATE-Z Jobs Work Group Associate is to convene and facilitate Work Group meetings, jointly led by co-chair partners who represent a government agency and/or educational institution, as well as community-based organization.

The goal of the Jobs Work Group is to move South Los Angeles residents into 10,000 living-wage jobs.

  • Serving as a bridge between SLATE-Z staff, co-chairs, and work group members

  • Advising the co-chairs and work group members by providing strategic advice and facilitating communications, action; and cooperation

  • Coordinating and communicating the agenda, action items, meeting notes, reports, and correspondence

  • Helping to increase engagement in SLATE-Z by coordinating communications with partners and the public

The goal of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Work Group is to increase economic activity by investing in businesses, entrepreneurs, and community-oriented infrastructure.

  • Advising the co-chairs and work group members by providing strategic advice and facilitating communications, action, and cooperation
